The Goh Chok Tong Enable Awards (GCTEA), which recognises the achievements and promise of exceptional persons with disabilities, will be holding its awards ceremony at the Istana with President Halimah Yacob as the Guest of Honour. The ceremony will also be attended by Special Guest Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong, the Patron of Mediacorp Enable Fund.

GCTEA has honoured a total of 42 Awardees for their outstanding accomplishments and potential over its three editions to date.

The ceremony is a closed-door event for invited guests only.

Deaf Awareness with Basic Sign Language
By TOUCH Silent Club

This workshop aims to remove the barrier between the hearing and deaf world. It provides an introduction to deafness and basic information on communicating with the Deaf.  It will also clarify some myths and misconceptions about deafness.  There will also be a short introduction to basic Sign Language. Deaf trainer will be conducting the workshop with a hearing facilitator.

Terrazzo Coaster Workshop
By TOUCH Centre for Independent Living

In this workshop, participants will learn how to make terrazzo coasters using a specially prepared mix, followed by an array of techniques to make their own handcrafted trays which includes – color mixing, casting techniques as well as sanding. One of the best parts is participants getting to bring home their very own handmade handcrafted tray done in their favourite colour and style. The workshop will be facilitated by clients with intellectual disabilities from TOUCH Centre for Independent Living.

Enabling Village Open House Tour

Enabling Village is the first inclusive community space in Singapore dedicated to integrating persons with disabilities in society. Located in Redhill and managed by SG Enable, it brings together community amenities, lifestyle retail services and inclusive programming for all with a special focus on disability-inclusive training and employment for persons with disabilities. Join us on this exclusive physical tour of the Enabling Village, led by our Inclusion Champion volunteers with disabilities.

Coptic Book Binding Workshop

Learn the traditional art of book binding facilitated by our master craftsmen. Facilitated by SPD book binders with decades of experience in the traditional art of book binding, participants will learn how to make from scratch their own A6 handbound journal with Coptic sewing.

Decoupage Workshop
By My Art Piece

Decoupage is the art of decorating objects with paper cutouts and paint effects (if necessary). These cutouts are glued to the surface and several coats of varnish are applied to give it a lacquered finish. The finished products are so stunning that they are often mistaken to be professionally painted. Fun and therapeutic, it is an easy art to embellish just about any objects and material.

Participants at this workshop will be guided to the art of decoupage by using paper napkins to decoupage onto an 8” PU Pouch.

Low-code/No-code Digital Upskilling Workshops

Enabling Academy is partnering Upskillcycle. Their courses aim to help persons with disabilities in their journey to break into tech through the power of the low-code/no-code platforms. This course will provide a sampling of courses run.

No Sew Festive Tote Workshop

Students from Temasek Polytechnic and clients of Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped will co-train participants to create and decorate their very own festive tote bag with the use of folding and cutting techniques. No sewing needed!

Nutty Christmas Snack Bar and Personalised Brew Bag Workshop

Led by apprentices with special needs from Metta Café and Temasek Polytechnic students, the No Bake Christmas Snack Bar and Personalised Brew Bag Workshop is sure to keep the season full of warmth by spending meaningful time with your loved ones to celebrate the coming season! Participants of the workshop will learn how to make their very own healthy Christmas bar (no bake) and get to create a personalised  brew bag to complement the Christmas bar.

Art Jamming & Christmas Ornament Making

Inclusive Hip Hop Workshop

This Hip Hop workshop is an introduction to the discipline of creative arts through hip hop dance with an inclusive approach that is tailored to all. The class provides a structured method of learning various Hip Hop movements in a fun-filled and vibrant environment.

Utilising upbeat music, the outcome will be an engaging session that not only teaches Hip Hop movements and techniques but, ultimately designed to improve social and cognitive skills, promote physical movement and increase coordination, and train creativity through free expression to music.
